3.7kW Photovoltaic Array
3.5kW Sharp 120/240 Inverter
This recent system was designed and engineered by Direct Power
and Water Corporation and installed by Pacific Power in San Jose
Ca. The system is a classic residential utility interactive system
feeding electricity back into PG& E utility system. California
is a buy down State and approximately 40% of the costs were paid
by the State of California.
The system consists of the following major components:
| 20 |
Sharp 185 watt modules |
| 1 |
Sharp JH3500 U line
tie inverter |
| 5 |
Direct Power and Water
roof ground mount racks |
The owner of the system was intimately involved in the design
and the installation of the system. The owner monitors the production
of the array each and every day and is an example of how many California
residents have almost entirely eliminated their utility bill. Due
to the complexities of PG& E billing process it is difficult
at best to determine what rate and tier schedule is best for a
photovoltaic utility intertie system in California. This owner
is on tier 7 which charge the client .33 cents per kilowatt hour
between 8am -6pm Monday through Friday and approximately .09 -
.11 cents during non peak times. This tier structure has allowed
this owner to all but eliminate his utility bill and contributes
to the over burdened power generation that exists in California.
