Dr. Thomas Nattakome
Las Cruces, New Mexico
This utility intertie system compliments this large beautiful
home in the City of Las Cruces. Dr. Nattakome system is mounted
on a custom Direct Power and Water racking structure. The rack
is a modified version of the trademarked Commercial Racking System™ (CRS)
offered to our large scale commercial clients. The rack uses a
trademarked
extrusion called the Power Tube™ and a block ballast system.
This system has no roof penetrations can be moved to other location
if necessary, and is stamped by a Professional Engineer to meet
the ASME wind loading guidelines.
The Photovoltaic array consists of 20 Sharp 185 watt modules mounted
at a 15º tilt which is not adjustable. It is expected that
this array will reduce the user’s electric bill by $75.00
to $100.00 per month. This owner did not receive any federal or
state money to install the system and at the current kWhr rate
the break even point exceeds 25 years.
The inverter installed in this system is the versatile Sharp JH3500
U which has three array inputs allowing partial shading on one
sub array without losing power overall power input to the inverter.
With this system the installer does not have to use isolation diodes
as is necessary in other high voltage line tied inverters.
